Anthony Davis played with undisclosed ankle injury in NBA Finals

Not only did Anthony Davis have a historic playoff run in the process of winning his first NBA Championship, but he also did so while playing through several injuries. But it wasn’t just the knee to the calf he caught in Game 5 or the heel contusion he was listed as dealing with going into the clinching Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat.

As a detail in the post-mortem of the final game of the longest season in NBA history, Davis told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Malika Andrews that he was also playing with an undisclosed ankle injury. Davis was “hurting.”

“Man, I’m hurting,” said Davis, who was listed on the injury report with a right heel contusion but told ESPN he was also dealing with an undisclosed ankle injury that had required six hours of treatment on Sunday afternoon.

“My mindset is, ‘It’s the Finals. I got to do whatever I can to compete,'” he said. “There’s no way in hell I wasn’t playing in this game.”
