Anthony Davis on move to Lakers: ‘My goal is to win championships’

Anthony Davis has been raking in quite a few endorsement deals over the last few weeks, but as his gesture of waiving nearly $4 million owed to him last week showed, Davis’ goals with the Lakers are not simply about maximizing his money and fame.

Davis went on the record with his desires as a Laker in an interview with Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times. There, he expressed his desire to team up with LeBron and his overall goals as a member of the Lakers.

“My goal is to win a championship,” Davis said. “I expect to win every time I step on the court, every game. I want to win a title. That’s what it’s about — winning titles. That’s the only thing on my mind.”

Even if they don’t land Kawhi Leonard, the Lakers are expected to be a championship contender in what could be the most wide-open championship race in modern NBA history.
