Anthony Davis injury: The latest on the Lakers star’s thumb injury

Anthony Davis wowed fans in first two preseason games against the Warriors and Nets, but the Lakers’ new superstar could be forced to miss time after suffering a thumb injury on Saturday in China.

Davis hurt his right thumb while blocking a shot in the first quarter. Davis continued to play, but later left the game and had his hand wrapped.

Davis was unable to undergo tests in the arena, and will have his thumb checked when the Lakers return to the United States. The Lakers labeled Davis’ injury a sprained right thumb.

The Lakers’ next preseason game is in just two days against the Warriors at the Staples Center. Los Angeles has three preseason games remaining overall, all against Golden State. The Lakers will kick off the regular season against the Clippers on October 22nd, giving Davis just 10 days to recover if he hopes to play in the season-opener.
