Anthony Cunningham finalises much-changed Roscommon management team

Roscommon boss Anthony Cunningham has finalised his much-changed management team for the 2022 campaign.

Down-based coach Steven Poacher announced last week that he was stepping down, saying that it was “time to focus my energies closer to home”, while Mark Dowd, Iain Daly and Dara Bruen have also departed.

Into the breach come former London manager and St Aidan’s clubman Noel Dunning, ex-Roscommon star Derek Duggan, Luke Bree and Peter Tormey, while Leo Tierney has been appointed as goalkeeping coach.

There will be some continuity, however, as Gary Flannery remains on board to oversee strength and conditioning.

Cunningham delivered a Connacht title in his first season in 2019 after Roscommon had been relegated from Division One earlier in the year but while they won immediate promotion last year, they suffered another relegation this year and have also made sharp Championship exits in each of the last two campaigns.
