Anthony Crolla to face Frank Urquiaga in Manchester retirement fight

The opponent for Anthony Crolla's final bout next month has now been confirmed, with Frank Urquiaga the man looking to spoil the Manchester fighter's farewell.

Popular Crolla, 32, will wind down his 13-year professional career with a 45th and last contest in front of a hometown crowd at the Manchester Arena on November 2.

The wait to discover 'Million Dolla's' final adversary in the ring was ended on Tuesday, with promoters Matchroom confirming that he would face Spaniard Urquiaga, with the WBA continental lightweight title on the line.

The card also features unified lightweight women's champion Katie Taylor challenging Christina Linardatou for the WBO super-lightweight title as she attempts to become a two-weight world champion.

“This is it, the final one,” said Crolla. “I’ve had so many great nights at the arena down the years, so I’m pleased to be finishing where it all started.

“Urquiaga knows this is his golden chance, a win against me and he throws his name further into the mix. I can’t let the emotions get to me, I’ve got a job to do first and foremost – I want to bow out with a win.

“The support and atmosphere has always been special at the arena, I’m forever thankful. I’m determined to put on a show for one last time.”
