Anthony Crolla admits he may retire after devastating KO defeat by Vasyl Lomachenko

Anthony Crolla has admitted he is seriously considering his future in the ring after a brutal knockout defeat at the hands of Vasyl Lomachenko.

The Mancunian fighter was outclassed in Los Angeles and knocked out by a vicious right hook in the fourth round.

It has left the 32-year-old former world champion pondering where he goes next and he admitted after the fight "the end is near".

An emotional Crolla is considering a homecoming fight in Manchester later this year - but he will now take some time away from the ring before making a decision on whether to hang up the gloves.

"I don't know, I'm going to have some time to think about it," Crolla told Sky Sports Boxing immediately after his defeat.

"I wouldn't want to go out like that but I've banged on about staying in boxing too long.

"I love this sport, and it's a big part of my life, but I've not got much longer left now.

"We'll see whether we've got one more later in the year or not, speak with the team.

Crolla took to social media to address his fans and respond to questions surrounding his future after the fight.

He wrote: "Just a thank to those who’ve tweeted their well wishes.

"Honest I’m fine health wise just pride is hurting.

"Honestly felt in the best shape of my life going into the fight and so gutted to go out like that.

"An honour to share the ring with Vasyl Lomachenko who was even better than I thought.

"The knockout was a great shot he told me after it he broke his hand with that punch. He was a gentleman.

"I’m just gonna have a bit of time out before deciding what’s next. I’ve had a crazy career and walking out in the Staples Centre against many peoples p4p #1 hearing the travelling support is something I’ll never forget.

"Thanks again for all the well wishes I just simply got knocked out off a truly great fighter. No regrets."
