TAMPA, Fla. _ Anthony Cirelli scored with 12.7 seconds left in overtime to give the Lightning a 4-3 overtime win over the Senators on Tuesday.
The Lightning had opportunities throughout the game, peppering goalie Marcus Hogberg with 40 shots, but couldn't put the Senators away.
Nikita Kucherov started the scoring off. After a small flurry in front of the net, Victor Hedman's shot bounced off the post. The Senators grabbed the puck and attempted a clear but Kucherov stole it and fired a shot right back on net.
The Senators responded a few minutes later as Mark Borowiecki fired a shot through traffic from the point.
Cedric Paquette put the Lightning back on top late in the first period. Pat Maroon battled for the puck along the boards, freeing it up for Yanni Gourde to send a centering pass to Paquette in the slot. The center put it past Hogberg.
Brayden Point added another for the Lightning early in the second. Steven Stamkos got the puck in the defensive zone and sent it up to Point, who carried it into the zone and scored on a wrist shot.
The Lightning, however, once again immediately allowed another goal. Connor Brown scored 29 seconds after Point to bring the Senators back within a single goal.
Anthony Duclair tied the game 3-3 with 4:14 left in the second period. He stole the puck from Kucherov and carried it down the ice to beat Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.
