Anthony Auclair helps Texans strike first vs. Patriots

The Houston Texans drew first blood against the New England Patriots in Week 5, also getting a player involved in the passing game for the first time since he joined the team.

Anthony Auclair appeared in all four games with the Texans so far this season, but the fifth-year tight end had yet to catch a pass. He had primarily been used as a blocker and on special teams up until today.

Davis Mills led Houston on an 18-play drive and with just 11 yards to go until the end zone, he targeted Auclair for the first time this season. The veteran delivered, extending for a touchdown grab that would give the Texans an early lead over New England.

This wasn’t just Auclair’s first career touchdown with the Texans, it was also his first career touchdown grab in the NFL. Auclair spent his first four NFL seasons playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers catching just 10 passes for 84 yards.

Houston still has a six-point lead over New England with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half.
