Ant Middleton has broken his silence to claim he decided to leave SAS: Who Dares Wins after reports he was sacked from the Channel 4 show due to a comment about Black Lives Matter protesters.
On Monday evening, the broadcaster released a statement saying they had cut ties with Ant over his "personal conduct".
It read: "Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of SAS: Who Dares Wins.
"Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again."
It is reported that Ant being dropped from Who Dares Wins stemmed from a now deleted tweet from last year in which he referred to to Black Lives Matter protesters as "absolute scum" when complaining about the "extreme left" and the English Defence League's "extreme right" taking to the streets.
Ant apologised telling fans he was "anti-racist and anti-violence" after deleting the post.
And then as news broke of his Who Dares Wins departure on Monday night, Ant told his 318,000 Twitter followers: "After 5 incredible years I’ve decided it’s time to move on from SAS Who Dares Wins UK.
"Big respect to my fellow DS – it’s been a journey I’ll never forget.
"Thanks to everyone that took part and made the show what it is. Really excited about the future and what’s coming this year," following that post up with "Stay positive."
Confused after seeing Channel 4's statement on the matter, one fan responded: "Other media outlets saying they’ve kicked you off rather than your decision, due to your personal conduct," and another tweeted: "Who decided?"
