SAS: Who Dares Wins host Ant Middleton has backed Donald Trump over the killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani.
Soleimani was killed in an airstrike in Baghdad, Iraq earlier this month, with Trump suggesting that the US “took action” to “stop a war.”
Middleton, a former member of the British Special Forces, described the President’s actions as “refreshing” and said that Trump’s decision to grant the order to kill Soleimani took “backbone.”
“President Trump didn’t just act on a whim,” the 39-year-old told Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, after Morgan asked him “to put the Iran crisis into perspective” for viewers.
“There was concrete evidence that there was a threat to his people, threat to his citizens, and he acted accordingly.
“I think it’s refreshing that there’s a president out there that’s willing to put the safety and wellbeing of his citizens before any political agenda.
“That takes backbone, that takes balls, and it’s quite refreshing to know.”
As Morgan warned him that his remarks could spark a backlash on Twitter, Middleton went on to take aim at “PC culture,” claiming it is “slowly dying out.”
“People are realising that feelings and emotions, on the grand scheme of things, are irrelevant but facts are facts,” he said.
“You can’t make decisions on someone’s feelings or emotions. It’s got to be facts.”
Middleton has served in the army, the Royal Marines and the Special Boat Service and completed several tours in Afghanistan.
He is the chief instructor on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins, which sees contestants take part in a gruelling two-week trial designed to replicate the Special Air Service’s tough selection process.
