Ant McPartlin will celebrate his impending wedding in style at a prestigious members-only golf club with best man Declan Donnelly and a group of their closest friends.
A sweeping 18-hole course in the south of England will stage the booze-free celebrations on Wednesday ahead of Ant’s wedding to Anne-Marie Corbett, 43, this summer, when Dec will once again be standing next to his TV partner of three decades to watch him tie the knot.
However, the Mirror reports that unlike his first stag in 2006, now-sober Ant will be avoiding the beers and swapping drinks for the links for a genteel golfing session under the sun.
It’s set to be in stark contrast to Ant’s first stag do before his 2006 wedding to Lisa Armstrong, which got so out of hand the I’m A Celebrity host woke up in a McDonald’s dressed as a saucy French maid.
Best man Dec had organised the legendary two-city booze-up to celebrate his mate’s last weeks of freedom with a Monopoly board-themed pub crawl through London featuring different fancy dress costumes at each bar.
Two weeks later they jetted out to the Latvian capital Riga and enjoyed a 12-hour drinking session.
Blaming Dec for the drunken antics, Ant said he was planning his revenge ahead of his pal’s own stag do in 2015.
He said at the time: “You know when you’ve been drinking all day and you have that one moment of clarity, and I came to dressed as French maid in McDonald’s just off Regent Street.
“It’ll be along those lines. Revenge is a dish best served cold.”
However Ant quit booze in 2018 after his second rehab stint.
A source told the Mirror: “Ant’s life has moved on from his and Dec’s wild nights out in the past. Now he just wants to spend a day with his mates playing golf before treating them to a slap-up meal.” He and up to 15 close pals, including Dec and entertainment star Jonathan Wilkes, will be spending today on the course before returning to the exclusive clubhouse for a four-course meal prepared by an experienced head chef.
They will dine on locally sourced seasonal delicacies in their own private area, although social distancing measures will mean they’ll have to sit at separate tables.
A dedicated events manager will ensure the party runs smoothly. Ant, 45, popped the question to his former PA-turned-fiancee Anne-Marie over Christmas, getting down on one knee to ask her to be his wife over a cream tea.
He’s believed to have asked Dec, 45, to be his best man again this summer after their friendship took a hit following Ant’s drink-drive shame in 2018.
