Ant McPartlin 'joked about booze battle' in heartfelt speech at wedding reception

Ant McPartlin reportedly joked about his battle with booze in a moving speech at his wedding reception yesterday.

The telly star, 45, tied the knot with Anne-Marie Corbett in a star-studded ceremony in Hampshire with his presenting partner Declan Donnelly as best man.

After the church service, the newly-weds and their guests headed to a lavish country hotel for their reception and Ant gave a heartwarming speech toasting his bride.

According to the Daily Mail, Ant opened with a joke about the devastating person problems which he credits Anne-Marie with helping him overcome.

The publication reports he started his speech by saying: "Hi, I'm Ant and I'm an alcoholic."

The report adds Ant also paid tribute to his bride and her daughters, thanking them for welcoming him into their family, saying: "They are amazing girls and I’m grateful that they call me Dad."

Dec is also said to have toasted his pal, calling him "the best friend a man could have".

Ant previously took a year away from TV after being convicted of drink-driving, leaving Dec without his longtime presenting partner.

He went to rehab and overcame his personal problems and made a triumphant return to screens to resume his career.

After Ant's first marriage to Lisa Armstrong broke down, he started dating Anne-Marie in 2018 and previously credited her with helping him get his life back on track.

The couple tied the knot yesterday in a star-studded ceremony in front of celebrity guests including Cat Deeley, David Walliams and Phillip Schofield.

Other guests included their longtime pal Dermot O'Leary and his partner Dee Koppang, Alesha Dixon and Frank and Christine Lampard.

The TV star arrived at the ceremony with Dec in matching black tie while Anne-Marie sported a beautiful white gown and carried a stunning bouquet of purple and white flowers.

During the ceremony, Anne-Marie's two daughters, who she shares with her first husband Scott, reportedly did readings.

One of the readings was said to be the Richard Bach poem The Bridge Across The River telling all about soulmates.

Ant's best man and presenting partner Declan Donnelly also said a prayer and did a reading, calling the groom the "best friend a man could have".

The three-tied wedding cake is said to have included models of the couple's beloved dogs.

The couple were pictured leaving the church together after the ceremony with huge grins on their faces.

Ant and Anne-Marie have been together since 2018 and got engaged on Christmas Eve last year.

The couple were lucky with the weather as it had previous been forecast to pour with rain but it looked like the sun came out just in time.

The three-day wedding celebration comes to an end today with a posh breakfast being laid on for guests in the hotel.
