Ant McPartlin close to tears as Britain's Got Talent choir girl tells him 'I missed you'

It’s been a tough year for Ant McPartlin - but the TV presenter has been given the sweetest welcome back to Britain's Got Talent he could have hoped for.

The first episode of the 13th series sees the host back on our screens after taking time out from work commitments following his drink-drive conviction and rehab stint.

His partner in crime Declan Donnelly hosted the live shows solo last year, but the duo are finally back together for the ITV talent show, which starts on Saturday.

And what better indication that people are delighted to see him back than a little girl who hugs him and tells him she’s missed him?

The youngster speaks to Ant after she sings as part of a children's choir led by their headteacher.

The children, from Flakefleet Primary School, from Fleetwood, sing Queen's Don't Stop Me Now.

The judges - Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden - give the choir the big thumbs up after an emotional and touching performance.

The group all head backstage while David sobs, before Ant picks the little girl up and jokes he’s “keeping this one” - to which she replies: “I missed you.”

A visibly emotional Ant responds: "I missed you too. Now you've got to let go now, you've got to go through."

Giving him one last big hug, she says: "Bye bye."

"Bye bye," he replies, adding: "Love you lots."

Looks like it's gonna be an emotional rollercoaster of a series already.

Britain's Got Talent airs Saturday at 7.15pm on ITV
