Ant McPartlin and Alesha Dixon in awkward clash on BGT after bizarre pole dance

Britain's Got Talent act Michael Sandwig left a frosty tension between hosts Ant and Dec and judge Alesha Dixon on Saturday.

The Geordie presenters couldn't hide their frustration at Alesha after she buzzed the elderly contestant at the very end of his routine – where he could be seen oddly pole dancing to The Sound Of Music.

While a dismayed Simon buzzed straight away, and described the performance as a nightmare, it was Alesha who pressed her buzzer seconds before the end, leaving Ant visibly annoyed.

"Alesha! Why!" Ant cried out from the sidelines as she snubbed the performance.

Meanwhile, Dec looked equally unimpressed with her.

It wasn't all bad news for Michael, though, as Amanda Holden and David Walliams both got to their feet after being blown away by the performance.

Amanda even likened it to a "Salvador Dali painting," adding: "I love it when people come up with these ideas".

"It was two of my favourite things at once: pole dancing and The Sound of Music, so I loved it,” David added.

While Simon wasn't enamoured by Michael's performance, he was visibly moved elsewhere in the show, when a live proposal took place.

Another act, named Jacob, called his girlfriend Faye onto the stage after his audition and proceeded to pop the question.

Gleefully, she accepted, and the pair emotionally embraced while the audience and judging panel sobbed.
