Ant gets I'm A Celebrity birthday surprise as he's presented with balloon models of him and Dec

Ant McPartlin got a birthday surprise he'll never forget on Wednesday as he turned 45 on the I'm A Celebrity set.

Ant and best pal and presenting partner in crime Dec have been making themselves feel like home in Wales as the new series of the hit ITV show gets into its stride.

The Geordie lads have been treating their many Instagram followers to behind the scenes updates, ranging from Ant's excitement of getting Bang Bang Cauliflower Wings delivered to a look at their gruelling I'm A Celebrity schedule.

And on Wednesday they uploaded a clip to their story of Ant walking on set to be left stunned by what had been prepared for him.

He walked in to the backstage area to see balloons spelling out 'Happy Birthday', as Dec looked at the camera and joked: "Is it your birthday? I better go and get a card!"

After running into one set of the balloons and accidentally knocking them down, Ant spotted quite possibly the most randomly amazing birthday present ever - a giant balloon model of himself.

And it got better as there was one of Dec too, with the pair proudly posing behind them as they shouted those famous words: "I'm a celebrity get me out of heeeeere!"

Ant and Dec were gearing up for Wednesday night's episode when viewers will see new arrivals Ruthie Henshall and Russell Watson in action for the first time as the take centre stage in front of their near co-stars to take on the Stage Fright trial.

Their entrance was meant to be a surprise to the rest of the lineup but viewers rumbled the fact that Shane Richie shouted "It's R&R!" after Ant and Dec revealed the name of the trial to the castle last night.

Russell and Ruthie's arrival gives Jordan North a break from trial duty after a torrid first few days on the show, but bookies are predicting his fears, vomiting and screaming will see him voted to do every trial by the public.

And Wednesday's show also saw Dec present Ant with an unexpected present - a bottle of hand sanitizer!
