TV presenting duo Ant McPartlin, 43, and Declan Donnelley, 44, have endorsed Strictly Come Dancing's Chris Ramsey after he took to the dancefloor to perform a commercial street dance routine to their classic hit.

Dec threw his support behind the comedian, who danced with professional Karen Hauer to Ant and Dec's pop tune Let's Get Ready to Rhumble, from his and Ant's joint Twitter account.

The message read: "Well I never thought I’d hear #LetsGetReadyToRhumble on #Strictly ! Oh @IAmChrisRamsey , you nailed it man! What a belter! D."

The funky couples choice routine scooped up 34 from the judges which meant they scooped up joint second place with Michelle Visage and professional Giovanni Pernice and Kevin Fletcher and dancing sensation Oti Mabuse.

The performance to the iconic track, that TV hosts Ant and Dec released in 1994 as their Byker Grove characters PJ and Duncan, scored 34 out of 40 from the judges.

Strictly viewers were left divided by the comedian's popping, locking, waving and krumping with some fans gushing he "smashed it" and others frustrated at the couples high score.

Positive fans typed :"Chris Ramsey on the BBC doing Street - LOL! Smashed it," and "That's it! I'm voting for Chris Ramsey! What a sexy piece of street-dancing a*** #Strictly ."

Another added: "You two never disappoint!!! Under marked if you ask me. The judges need to remember that you were an absolute non dancer although you wouldn’t believe it after seeing that. The sheer joy on your face throughout was great. Keeeeep daaaaaancing!!!!!!

Not so impressed TV watchers blogged on Twitter: "Fun dance, but think they overmark the street dance as they don’t know technically what they are looking for #Strictly ."

"What has happened to strictly come dancing.. far too much of this street crap we're seeing more and more of I mean this ain't WHAT SCD is about???" an unimpressed social media user added.

Another quizzed: "What is that street dance c*** on #Strictly ? Ridic."
