Ant & Dec surprise heroic Jaydee-Lee Dummett, 7, with Pride of Britain Award

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have shared the incredible moment they surprised Jaydee-Lee Dummett with the news she'd won a Child of Courage honour at this year's Pride of Britain Awards.

The Geordie duo left seven-year-old speechless as they showed up at a meeting with her mum Lindy and brother Leylan, whose lives Jayde-Lee had saved months before.

Ant and Dec covered their faces with copies of the Mirror's front page story on heroic Jaydee-Lee before the big reveal.

"Look who it is! It's Jaydee-Lee from the paper!" cried Dec.

The youngster beamed with delight as Ant told her they'd heard she'd done something very special.

They then handed Jadyee-Lee with a golden envelope that contained an invited to this year's Pride of Britain Awards, before telling her she'd won a Child of Courage honour.

"Well done!" cried Ant as he and Dec hugged the inspiring school girl.

The pair then shared a video of the moment to their official Instagram page.

"We loved surprising the amazing Jaydee-Lee Dummett with her Pride of Britain Award for Child of Courage! Such an honour to be part of her special day," said the I'm A Celebrity presenters.

Jaydee-Lee was awarded after saving her family from a deadly poisoning by remembering a lesson from school in the middle of the night.

Quick-thinking Jaydee-Lee woke up to find her little brother Leylan, four, was confused and disorientated.

The brave seven year old spotted the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning after having a gas safety lesson at school.

She leapt into action when she saw her house carbon monoxide alarm turn from green to red - and even remembered the gas emergency phone number.

Engineers rushed to the home in Fochriw, Caerphilly, in South Wales to make the gas supply safe.

They have sinced praised Jaydee-Lee for saving her family.

Sean Ward, a Wales & West Utilities emergency engineer, said: "The actions of Jaydee-Lee have saved her family's lives and she should be commended.

"From speaking to her that night it was clear that she took in such a lot of vital information from the gas safety session which is fantastic."

Carbon monoxide poisoning kills 50 people in the UK every year and leaves a further 200 seriously ill.

The 2019 Pride of Britain Awards will air tonight on ITV at 8pm GMT.
