Ant & Dec send message to Vernon Kay as his show Game of Talents takes over Saturday slot

Ant and Dec sent some words of encouragement to Vernon Kay as his new show Game of Talents took over ITV's Saturday primetime slot this weekend.

The I'm A Celebrity finalist fronts the much hyped programme, which has already proved successful in America and involves celebrities helping members of the public guess what talent a performer has just based on their appearance.

The first episode of Game of Talents saw Vernon joined by wife Tess Daly and her Strictly co-star Craig Revel-Horwood and ahead of it, Ant and Dec, who were in the Welsh castle to see Vernon put through the mill on I'm A Celeb at the end of last year, sent the former T4 presenter a message on Twitter.

They wrote: "Good luck big Vern @vernonkay and the #GameOfTalents team taking over our @ITV @WeAreSTV slot tonight. "

And then in a nod to their own primetime weekend show which came to an end last week, the lads added: "We’re looking forward to watching at home with our feet up and a #SaturdayNightTakeaway!"

Due to its rather brutal format, some viewers labelled Game of Talents 'the most judgemental show ever', while others were more than happy to play along at home.

Tweeting along as the show aired, one reacted: " #GameOfTalents - very good game show & great to have @vernonkay back on Saturday nights."

Another posted: "loving this tonight, it's funny and a change to the normal Saturday night shows on telly. Love all the acts and a third tweeted Vernon to say: "Really enjoyed watching game of talents! Refreshingly different! Looking forward to next weeks episode already!"

Saturday also saw BBC1 launch its new Saturday night offering I Can See Your Voice, which involves famous faces assisting teams in trying to work out which of the performers in front of them is actually a good singer to win big money.

And both have divided viewers, with some instantly hooked and others hitting out at BBC and ITV for 'hitting new lows.'
