Ant and Dec watch in horror as I'm a Celebrity stars plunge from cliffs

By Hana Carter

Ant and Dec watched on in horror as this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! campmates plunged from the edge of a cliff in their first trial.

After being flown across the moody Welsh countryside by helicopters, the celebrities were forced to walk the plank as part of this years' entry challenge.

The presenter duo watched open-mouthed as the stars nervously stepped out over the stomach-churning drop.

In an exclusive video shown to The Mirror, Snoochie Shy, Naughty Boy, Louise Minchin and Danny Miller are seen walking out to the scaffolding as they are battered by the Welsh winds.

The celebrities both step out on parallel platforms, before dropping into thin air above the remote Alexandra Quarry near Penyffridd just outside of Caernarfon.

DJ and producer Naughty Boy was seen dangling above the rocks after the platform dropped from beneath his feet.

Hopefully everyone will be able to keep their final pre-castle meal down, unlike poor Radio 1 DJ Jordan North, who was so scared to abseil down a cliff last year that he threw up.

The first show in the series always features a knee-knocking challenge and forces the team to face any fear of heights they may have.

In previous years contestants have jumped from helicopters and abseiled down sheer cliff edges.

Still unable to shoot the show in its original home of Australia, this marks the second year in a row where camp is set up in Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But not all the residents of Abergele are too keen on having Ant and Dec and the crew in their neighbourhood.

A sign has been put up on a bridge in Abergele, where the show is filmed, which reads: "Ant + Dec. Go Home!"

The action will once again resume at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, which has been spruced up ready to welcome this year's contestants.

However I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! bosses have reportedly angered locals, after blocking off the areas near the historic site.

Details of the series, which is set to air this Sunday, have remained a closely kept secret and in order to stop any nosey neighbours, bosses have reportedly put up steel fences around the castle's perimeter.

Last year Radio 1's Jordan North was sick when he attempted this terrifying challenge (Spartacus /

According to The Sun, the fences are eight feet tall and have been set up around the entire estate, which blocks off trails commonly used by locals.
