Ant and Dec call for big change to I'm A Celebrity in time for next series

Ant and Dec have called for a big change to be made to I'm A Celebrity this year and it's all about where it will take place.

Right from when the ITV show made its debut back in the summer of 2002 until 2019, it was always located in the Australian jungle.

But, after the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc across the globe and strict travel restrictions were imposed, I'm A Celebrity bosses were forced into the tough decision of moving it from Down Under to a castle in Wales.

And, while Ant and Dec have been very complimentary about Wales and viewers have lapped up up the last two series based in Gwrych Castle, the Geordie duo have told Graham Norton that they want the show to go back to Australia this year.

Appearing on latest episode of The Graham Norton Show, Dec told the Irish host: "Australia is the spiritual home of I'm A Celebrity and where it's been for 20 years, and four weeks there in the sun in October and November is great. We love it and we want to go back."

Ant and Dec's hopes for a return to Australia come as Storm Barra caused chaos for I'm A Celebrity last month.

As communities across the UK were left without power for over a week, extreme weather caused damage to the set's production base in Abergele.

And, then as conditions got worse, the celebrities were evacuated from the castle and put back into quarantine as all live shows were cancelled for four days.

The most recent series of I'm A Celebrity was won by Danny Miller, who beat nearest rival Simon Gregson by 10 per cent, the clearest winning margin on the show for a number of years after two very narrow victories for Jacqueline Jossa and Giovanna Fletcher.
