Ant and Dec to host one-off Radio 2 show celebrating their career

Ant and Dec will host a one-off radio show for BBC Radio 2 in which they will recount the music that has soundtracked their careers.

The broadcasting duo will present an episode of BBC Radio 2’s My Life in a Mixtape on Sunday, September 6.

In celebration of 30 years working together, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will select songs that have provided the soundtrack to their decades-spanning careers.

According to BBC Radio 2, listeners will learn about the first time the pair sang together, as well as the pop song they believe must be listened to at least twice a year.

They will also recount stories about saving Dame Shirley Bassey from a tumble, while failing to save the “Queen of Pop” from an actual fall.

On top of their My Life in a Mixtape show, Ant and Dec will look back at their three decades in television with a special online event.

The pair, who are currently preparing for the release of a book titled Once Upon A Tyne, will recall their rise from starring in Newcastle-set drama Byker Grove to hosting a string of their own shows on prime time TV.

All profits from the session, which is part of the Fane Online series, will raise funds for The Prince’s Trust.

“Seeing as we can’t meet you all face to face in the current climate, we thought it would be a great idea to put on this event and see you all virtually,” the pair said.

“You’ll be able to ask us plenty of questions about being on the telly together for 30 years and we can share some of our favourite stories from the book."
