Ant and Dec split due to coronavirus and present Saturday Night Takeaway from home

Ant and Dec were forced into a shock split this weekend due to coronavirus. as they presented Saturday Night Takeaway separately.

Coronavirus has forced the hit show into making a number of drastic changes over the past few weeks. Firstly was the cancellation of its big finale in Florida and then a huge one last week, when Takeaway was filmed without a studio audience for the first time in its history.

At the end of last week's show, Dec revealed that the forthcoming episode on March 28 wouldn't be live and then on Friday an advert for it teased that it would feature 'best of' clips from over the years.

And then the biggest shock of them all came at the start of this week's Takeaway when Ant and Dec weren't together. Ant was in his living room and Dec was in his.

Thanks to camera trickery, they still presented their opening lines side by side, with Ant of course on the left, but social distancing meant they couldn't actually be together for real.

And viewers, while understanding why, were still left gutted. One tweeted: "Feels so weird with no studio. Giving you a wave from the sofa," and another reacted: "It's absolutely mad watching you from your homes."

Others praised the lads for bringing some much needed light relief to the country, with another fan posting: "Ant and Dec are hosting their show from their own houses and continuing to entertain the UK. I have so much respect and love for them both."
