Ant and Dec 'slapped with Ofcom complaints' after Gordon Ramsay insults woman's teeth

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway has reportedly been hit with more than 100 Ofcom complaints after Gordon Ramsay left viewers upset.

The famous chef was appearing on the ITV show, hosted by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, as the star guest announcer and also took part in the Read My Lips game with the virtual audience.

He was given noise-cancelling headphones and tasked with reading the lips of audience members to guess which dishes they were saying and help them win some cash.

As a woman named Lorna repeatedly said "garlic bread" to Gordon, he fired back guesses like lasagna and chilli con carne.

After realising how wrong he'd got it, Gordon told Ant and Dec: "I can't... It's the gap in the teeth, I can't understand what she's saying."

According to The Sun, the episode aired last Saturday has been complained about by 104 people, who felt the need to contact broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

Of the complaints registered, 68 were about Gordon's "savage" remark to Lorna and nine were about a contestant who was denied a prize, before the show later clarified the error and awarded her with it.

Viewers had taken to Twitter to hit out at Gordon's remark.

One wrote: "Was there any need for Gordon Ramsay to say that about that lady's teeth?"

Another fumed: "Wtf Gordon Ramsay is savage af.. 'it's the gap in the teeth'."

While a third posted: "Love the show but really disappointed in Gordon Ramsay’s personal, insulting comment about the lady’s gap in her teeth.

"On live TV! So mean and unnecessary and comments like that can break someone."

"Still can't believe Gordon blamed the gap in that woman's teeth for not being able to guess the dish," one fan penned.

The game also saw Ant forced to apologise to viewers after producers thought they'd heard Gordon swear.

It came around 10 minutes after the famously foul-mouthed chef promised to refrain from swearing during the prime-time family show.

The Mirror has contacted Ofcom, ITV and Gordon's representatives for comment.
