Ant and Dec shut down rumours of I'm A Celebrity prize money for winner

Ant and Dec have shut down any speculation of the I'm A Celebrity winner receiving any prize money with a telling comment at the start of Sunday's final.

It has been the subject of much speculation for years now as to whether the star who triumphs on the ITV show gets a huge sum of cash for winning.

But, while it's well documented that the celebs who take part every year get a decent fee for taking part, Ant and Dec have quashed any rumours that the I'm A Celebrity winner gets any further boost to their bank account.

As viewers continued to vote for their 2021 winner out of Danny Miller, Frankie Bridge and Simon Gregson, Ant and Dec made a quip about the lack of prize money for whoever won.

Talking about the winner, Ant said: "Whoever that is, tomorrow morning they'll look at their bank account and think one thing..." before Dec added: "Why did I spend three weeks doing a TV show that doesn't have a cash prize?"

I'm A Celebrity has now been on our screens for close two decades, having made its debut in the summer of 2002.

Its first winner was famous radio DJ Tony Blackburn and other champions since then have included Kerry Katona, Gino D'Acampo, Vicky Pattison, Harry Redknapp and Scarlett Moffatt.

Heading into Sunday's final, bookies made Emmerdale actor Danny the last minute favourite, after a swift rejigging of the odds following David Ginola's shock exit.

And they got it right as it was Danny who became the show's first ever King of the Castle.
