Ant and Dec share Newcastle United fans' petition demanding an investigation into the failed takeover

Geordie duo Ant and Dec have shared the petition demanding an investigation into the Premier League process in the aftermath of the failed Newcastle United takeover.

The boyhood Toon supporters - who are often spotted at Newcastle away games in the capital - shared the petition to their 6.7 million followers on Twitter.

The petition has more than 90,000 signatures and alongside the 6,000 letters sent by fans to their local MPs, marks a relentless wave of pressure on the Premier League to provide some answers on the failed sale of the club.

More than a week on since the Public Investment Fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben Brothers withdrew their offer, fans and journalists alike are still waiting on the Premier League to provide answers to key questions - namely why the process took 17 weeks and no decision looked imminent.

All three parties of the consortium remain keen to complete the deal if the issues with the Premier League can be ironed out.
