Ant and Dec set off Alexa chaos nationwide in Britain's Got Talent: The Champions

The second week of Ant and Dec's 2019 Britain's Got Talent: The Champions was full of surprises for its audience at the weekend.

And not least when the star Newcastle presenters came to introduce an impressive dog act, featuring an 11-year-old girl from Germany, whose name is Alexa.

Those watching at home who had an active Alexa nearby found it pinging into action every time the hosts mentioned her name. Alexa Lauenburger and her dogs won the German version of Britain's Got Talent two years ago, when she was just nine.

And while she impressed Ant and judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell - who were all full of praise for the young performer - she also set off voice-activated devices nationwide, reported the Manchester Evening News .

It all began when Dec asked Ant how they should introduce the youngster and he replied: "Alexa, show me Germany's most amazing dog act."

Viewers took to social media to tweet about how impressed they were. Kelly Chisholm said: "Little girl on BGT has seven dogs following her in a conga and I can't even get one dog to follow me when I shout his name!"

But Michaela Wain said: "Anyone else’s Alexa going berserk at BGT champions?" and Chelsea Ludlow tweeted: "Please stop saying Alexa. My Alexa is going crazy."

Ant and Dec chose to hit their golden buzzer for a tearful Alexa - who actually has eight trained dogs - and so guaranteed her a place in the final favourites show.
