Ant and Dec's simple but effective message about Sports Direct and Newcastle United

Geordie due Ant and Dec showed they are just like every other Newcastle United fan when it comes to the removal of the Sports Direct signs from St James' Park.

The presenters - just an hour after their dig at Prime Minister Boris Johnson - took to social media to share a simple but relatable response to images of the Sports Direct signage in skips outside the stadium.

Replying with the happy, heart-eyed emoji, the pair were clearly as happy as thousands of other Newcastle fans to see the signs finally come down.

The removal of the big signage from across the stands as well as the smaller banners that were situated at the top of the stands marks the end of the company's - and Mike Ashley's - association with the club.

The retail tycoon finally sold Newcastle United to the Saudi backed consortium back in October after nearly 18 months of trying - and 14 years of ownership of the club in which United were relegated twice and faced several battles for Premier League safety.

Newcastle face Manchester City on December 19th and the hope is that all signage will be removed for the visit of Pep Guardiola's men which is set to be sold out and is live on Sky Sports.

Speaking earlier this year about the Sports Direct signage, co-owner Amanda Staveley said: "The Sports Direct signs I'm looking forward to coming down. It's a slight frustration when I go into the stadium and I try and take a picture which doesn't have Sports Direct in it."
