Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway viewers love what Greg James did at the start of the show

They're usually the stars of the show but Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have a bit of competition tonight.

That's because BBC Radio One DJ Greg James has taken over as guest announcer on tonight's edition of Saturday Night Takeaway.

And as fans were pleased to see him swap the radio mic for a TV studio, there was one particular detail they loved more than anything.

As Ant and Dec finished their big walk into the studio to start the show, the Geordie duo went on to introduce Greg to the audience and those watching at home.

Viewers loved seeing Greg on screen (ITV)

As he said hello to the presenters he said: "Are you well? I thought you were," and if you have been keeping up with Greg recently, or at least follow him on Twitter, you'll know why.

Before appearing on the popular show, the 34-year-old asked his 1.6m to vote in his poll as to what phrase he should use to open the show.

The choice was between "Are you well? I thought you were," or "Why hello Jill."

And true to his word, he did just that.

Much to fans approval.

"Are you well? @gregjames he got it in. Legend!! #SaturdayNightTakeaway," said one.

Another added: "'Are you well, I thought you were', love that @tommoracing @gregjames #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

"Genuinely excited at @gregjames’ little in-joke for his listeners #SaturdayNightTakeaway," commented a third."

And another simply praised: "Can they keep Greg James as the announcer for the rest of the series? #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

To get you up to speed, Greg became obsessed with a viral moment from 2018 when TV chef Ainsley Harriot appeared on This Morning.

The former Ready Steady Cook host surprised an ITV viewer, named Jill, on Mother's Day and his little soundbite went viral thanks to a little bit of help from Greg.
