Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway hit by Ofcom complaints over Gordon Ramsay 'teeth' insult

Saturday Night Takeaway has been the target of Ofcom complaints after Gordon Ramsey's stint as Star Guest Announcer last weekend.

After a very well received start to the new series on February 20, with viewers loving the Harry and Jamie Redknapp prank and the surprise Ant and Dec sprung on a inspirational teacher, the Geordie duo returned to an empty studio last weekend and welcomed potty mouthed Gordon as a special guest.

But after he promised them there'd be no need for a swear button, things went downhill as Gordon first said "p***sed" during a round of Read My Lips before insulting another contestant's teeth.

After failing to get words she was shouting like carbonara and garlic bread, Gordon ranted: "It's the gap in the teeth, I can't understand what you're saying."

Viewers were quick to hit out at Gordon, with one tweeting: "So mean and unnecessary and comments like that can break someone. We can’t all afford the level of cosmetic work you’ve had done Gordon! Apologise."

Another posted: "I feel personally attacked by Gordon Ramsey’s comment about that lady’s gap in her front teeth,"

And now, The Sun, last Saturday's episode has been complained about by 104 people, who felt the need to contact broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

Of the grievances registered, 68 were about Gordon's' "teeth" dig and nine were about a contestant who was denied a prize during the Singalong game, only to then be awarded the £500 after Ant and Dec had "reviewed the footage."

This weekend's Takeaway will feature a guest performance from music legend and The Voice UK coach Tom Jones.
