Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway announce Florida 'place on the plane' competition continues despite coronavirus

Ant and Dec made a big announcement about the "place on the plane" competition during the show tonight.

Ant started the show by rubbing his hand with hand gel and ran down to the stage with Dec.

The first thing the pair addressed was the fact the end of the series finale in Florida has been cancelled.

They said: "We're not going to be able to show the finale in Florida as planned.

"But Disneyworld and Virgin have said that all the winners will be heading to Florida at future date.

"In better news they've said we can have more places to give away.

"Were here to put a few smiles on a few faces tonight."

The season finale for the popular ITV show would have seen 300 lucky winners travel to Disney World Florida on April 4.

Yesterday an ITV spokesman said: “We will no longer be broadcasting the Saturday Night Takeaway finale from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Walt Disney World has made the decision to close, beginning on Monday 16 March until the end of the month.

“The wellbeing of all our prize winners, as well as our production team, is always our number one priority.

"All recipients of a ‘Place on the Plane’ prize will have their prizes honoured and flown by Virgin Holidays for a 5-night stay at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida at such later date when it is practical for Virgin Holidays and Walt Disney World Resort to fulfil the prize.”
