Ant and Dec's reunion SMTV show with Cat Deeley: What we know so far

If there’s something we need more than ever right now, it’s a big helping of nostalgia.

And we're in luck, with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly reuniting with Cat Deeley for an SMTV: Live special.

The threesome are back with a one-off reboot of the Saturday morning show to celebrate their 30th anniversary on television.

Although rumours of a reunion for the SMTV Live cast have been circulating since 2017, the news was seemingly confirmed by television insiders this month.

"SMTV was such a huge part of Ant and Dec’s career they knew they wanted to mark it in some way,” insiders told the Daily Star.

“The show will look back on some of the best moments and see old guests reminisce."

And the show has already been committed to film.

During an interview on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Dec said: "There’s definitely an SM:TV reunion. We’ve filmed a show looking back at the story of SMTV and how it came about. That’s going to be on later in the year. We’ve recorded that already."

When is the SMTV reunion show back on screen?

Ant and Dec have been keen to bring back SMTV for some time, and confirmed at the 2017 Baftas that ITV had already given the green light for the series.

“ITV have just agreed to it,” Dec said at the time to The Sun. “They are on board now. We've had the first discussion now and it's going to be August or September next year.”

However, the reunion was put on pause in 2018 following Ant’s personal problems, which saw the star head into rehab after being convicted of drink driving.

But plans are back on track now Ant is back to his best, returning to his presenting duties

SMTV ran between 1998 and 2003 and ran for over 270 episodes.

It’s yet to be confirmed what segments are being brought back for the reunion, though we’re likely to see some old favourites including Chums, which was a silly spin-off based on the success of American sitcom Friends, rhyming slang catchphrase show Wonky Donkey, silly game show Challenge Ant and football competition Eat My Goal.
