Ant and Dec's giggling fit during King's Coronation sparks wild TV prank fan theories

TV duo Ant and Dec's giggling during the royal Coronation ceremony has prompted some fans to wonder if the mischievous pair were up to no good.

The pair, who present ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway, could be seen stifling fits of laughter during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey as King Charles III was officially crowned as the next monarch.

The Geordie pair were trying their hardest to fight back laughing with Ant seen gritting his teeth and grimacing as he appeared to be trying his best to stay silent. Longtime pal Dec also appeared to be smirking and biting back giggles as the pair sat at the historic celebration.

The pair's behaviour saw fans of the presenting duo quickly refer to the cheeky presenters as acting like "naughty school boys."

One viewer watching the BBC coverage tweeted: "Like two schoolboys who've been told by their teacher to keep quiet and can't contain their laughter."

However some fans were quick to wonder whether the pair were possibly using the royal Coronation for their infamous prank 'Get Out My Ear'.

The hilarious segment is a regular feature on the pair's Saturday Night Takeaway, which sees the cheeky chappies instructing celebrities via a secret earpiece and making them do comic things for viewers in the ITV audience and at home.

One viewer watching the royal coverage tweeted: "Right time to liven this up! Ant and Dec over to you with a coronation special of 'get out of me ear'."

Another shared a snap of the pair struggling not to laugh, as they wrote: "Ant and Dec filming a segment for Get Out Of My Ear."

Whilst the pair's cheeky laughing might not have been part of a royal prank, the duo did reveal that when they received their invites for the royal celebrations they thought the royal family was playing a trick on them.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Ant said: "It is a privilege – an honour and a privilege – to be here today."

Dec said getting an invite was a strange feeling and he added: "It's quite surreal when the invite comes through and it's quite an ornate invite and it comes through the door and you think, 'hang on a minute, is it finally our time to get wound up?'

"Is someone having us on here because this is a really good wind up' and no, apparently it was true and here we are!"

The pair attended the Coronation alongside other famous faces including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Emma Thompson and Amanda Holden.
