Ant and Dec reveal Saturday Night Takeaway won't be live next week due to coronavirus

Fans of Saturday Night Takeaway have been left gutted by the news that the spread of coronavirus means there'll be no more live shows this series.

Ant and Dec were live in the studio, minus their usual capacity audience, after ITV decided to film without one as cases of COVID-19 soar across the UK.

In a statement ITV said: "Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead this weekend without a studio audience. Our priority is safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved.

"The show will be made with a reduced production crew and in accordance with the latest guidance from Public Health England.

""The team are looking forward to bringing our viewers a brilliant show on Saturday evening."

The show DID go on though and featured Ant and Dec's second prank on Bradley Walsh, which left The Chase host raging.

But after Olly Murs' amazing End of the Show Show performance, which featured videos from viewers across the country, came the bad news that Saturday Night Takeaway, although back next weekend at 7pm, WON'T be live.

No audience for Saturday Night Takeaway

The news was confirmed in a tweet from Takeaway which read: "Thank you all for joining us tonight! Sadly that was our final live show of the series. We hope it sparked some joy when we all need it most.

"We'll be back next week with something a bit different. Stay safe everyone!"

And fans were left gutted by the announcement. One tweeted: "Thank you so much, sad it’s over for a bit well needed laughter tonight," and another reacted: "Gutted it was the last live show of the series, but I completely understand. And you gave us THE best show ever, so we really can't complain!

Many others were quick to praise the show and Ant and Dec for going ahead with it, with another viewer commenting: "You boys are amazing. I’m a vulnerable adult stuck at home. Your show massively cheated me up. Thank you."
