Ant and Dec reveal bad news for fans hoping to meet them at signings

Ant and Dec have left fans gutted with the news that they may have to scrap plans for book signings across the country.

Earlier this year the Geordie lads revealed they had put pen to paper on new tell-all memoir Once Upon A Tyne, which is set to be released in September.

But, with release date still nearly two months away, Ant and Dec have said it looks likely that plans for nationwide book signings as part of a promotional tour will be be shelved.

Revealing the bad news on Twitter, they posted: It's looking likely that we'll not be able to do our book signings in the shops as planned. SO to make up for it, we're signing even more books which can be pre-ordered from @WHSmith."

The tweet got a big reaction from fans, with one responding: "Gutted you aren't doing a tour, id have come and said hello again" and, in agreement, another replied: "Absolutely gutted that there’s not going to be a book tour, thank you for signing extra copies of the book though."

Last week the duo revealed they'd gone back to work for the first time in nearly four months to record the audio book for Once Upon a Tyne.

Speaking to The Sun about it release earlier this year, a source said: “The idea of a book to mark 30 years has been talked about by Ant and Dec and their team for a while.

But as soon as word got out to the industry publishers were chomping at the bit.

"As it stands 12 publishing houses are bidding for it and it will sell for a massive figure. It’ll easily be the celebrity book of the year as Ant and Dec are national treasures."
