Ant and Dec respond to I'm A Celebrity fans after criticism over letters from home

As well as hosting the show, Ant and Dec join fans in tweeting along every night when I'm A Celebrity is on air.

This means that they're seeing pretty much everything viewers are saying about the ITV reality programme.

And during Monday night's show, one half of the presenting duo hit back at 'harsh' comments over the campmates receiving letters from home.

It was an emotional night at Gwrych Castle as the celebrities completed a challenge to win their messages from partners, siblings, and parents.

Each member of the camp had to remember a six-digit code and correctly input it into a computer within three guesses in order to unlock the letter for their partner.

David Ginola and Adam Woodyatt were the only celebrities not to receive their letters due to their partners failing the challenge.

And when it finally came round to reading the messages, there were A LOT of tears from the famous faces - and those watching at home.

But not all I'm A Celeb viewers were feeling the emotion and were quick to have their say on social media.

@johngittins19 said: "These people are away from home sometimes working for weeks and months , and this nonsense and tears about receiving a letter when they will be home in 7 days is ridiculous #ImACeleb."

"Ahahahaha what’s with the tears, it’s been 2 weeks #ImACeleb," @Bellie68903944 tweeted.

@PamelaPamr63 added: "Letters from home. They're only in bloody Wales and have spent half the time in a hotel FFS. #growup #ImACeleb."

After seeing the messages, Dec took to his and Ant's joint Twitter account to try and reason with those who found the tears too much.

He responded to a tweet form @notdaveordavie which read: "I’ll never understand the drama over letters from home on TV shows. I’ve ignored texts longer than they are in the jungle! #ImACeleb."

Dec quoted the message to his and Ant's 6.7 million followers, writing: "I think the people saying this are a bit harsh and probably don't have small children!"

He went on: "Bearing in mind they isolated for 2 weeks before the series they've now been away from family, camping with strangers and starved for a full month!"

The tweet received hundreds of messages which were still very much divided.

@nikki_inthesun replied: "@antanddec Military wife here. Can't sympathise at all I'm afraid."

"@antanddec Have to agree with Dec. When the kids and missus go away to see family and I can’t make it, due to work, for the first two days I’m like YES.. Hello remote control, hello takeaway menus, hello Rock music but by day three I’m pining like a lost puppy seeking begging for normality," @hauntedmagazine argued.
