Ant and Dec poke fun at Premier League return plans with hilarious Instagram picture

Ant and Dec have shared a hilarious photoshopped picture of themselves playing football for their favourite team, Newcastle United.

Posting on their joint Instagram and Twitter accounts, they wrote: "Leaked photo of the Premier League’s top talent back in training #projectrestart.”

Project Restart is the name of the ongoing operation to get football back on track, after matches and training were postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Players have this week begun returning to training.

The photo shows Declan Donnelly in the team’s black and white striped kit, while Ant McPartlin is seen both in a green goalkeeper's top as well as doubling up as the match referee.

Ant and Dec first met in 1989 while filming TV show Byker Grove, and have since become one of the nation’s favourite presenting duos.

They have often spoken about their shared love of Newcastle United.

One fan posted a photo of a young Ant and Dec in the team’s colours below the comedic duo’s photoshopped picture.

Fans have been delighted by Ant and Dec’s antics during lockdown, as they’ve posted a series of fun videos on their Instagram.

They also managed to bring the 2020 series of Saturday Night Takeaway to an end despite the lockdown, filming one episode in the studio with no audience, before taping the final two in their own homes.
