Ant and Dec play badminton 'across the street' from six miles away

Ant and Dec got over their lockdown boredom on Friday with a civilised game of badminton in the street, leaving their social media followers confused.

However, there was one big difference that meant they weren't actually flouting social distancing rules - they WEREN'T in the same street because they no longer anywhere near each other.

The Saturday Night Takeaway hosts and best mates have seen their TV work disrupted rather substantially by coronavirus over the past month.

Firstly the global pandemic put pay to Takeaway's glittering planned finale in Disney World, Florida and then the UK Government's ban on mass gatherings and orders for everyone to social distance saw Ant and Dec forced to present their award winning ITV show with no audience, before things escalated further and they had to present the last two episodes from their separate living rooms via video call.

Now Takeaway has finished, the Geordie duo are enjoying some well earned rest and, with us all encouraged to take up new hobbies during lockdown, they decided to have a game of lockdown 'across the street'.

There was only one major flaw with that idea - the once neighbours no longer live in the same street - they're now six miles apart.

This is great. So handy we live on the same street,” Dec said as he energetically hit back.

“You know I moved don’t you?” Ant replied, causing Dec to react in shock when his badminton partner revealed he had moved “six miles away.”

Ant then said he moved: “A little while ago,” prompting Dec to exclaim: “Did you? Well who the hell am I playing badminton with?”

Ant and Dec shared the video on their Instagram account, with the caption: "We wondered why the neighbours complained about the racquet.”
