Ant and Dec hopeful I’m A Celebrity will return to Australia in 2022 to 'torment' cast

Ant and Dec have said they’re “hoping” I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will return Down Under this year after two years in Wales during the coronavirus pandemic.

The pair appeared on ITV ’s Lorraine this morning to discuss their new game show Ant and Dec's Limitless Win, which offers contestants an endless money ladder.

Host Lorraine Kelly asked the pair whether the popular reality show could return to Australia this year.

Ant McPartlin said they “hope” to return Down Under, but acknowledged that they “said that last year”.

Ant said: “We’d all like to go back. It's proper home.”

Declan Donnelly weighed in, saying it was “a bit too drizzly” in Wales last year.

Ant added: “And we never get called off air with a storm in Australia.”

ITV bosses were forced to cancel part of the I’m A Celebrity run when Storm Arwen hit the set.

The presenters had to pre-record their links after 80mph winds battered the castle in Wales.

Dec told Lorraine: “It wasn’t quite the same, but we had a great time in North Wales.

“They made us feel so welcome. I’m A Celebrity’s spiritual home is Australia.”

Lorraine reassured the pair, saying: “It was still a cracker, but it would be lovely to see you in Australia, so you can top up your tan.”

Dec replied: “We can torment them a bit more in Australia as well.”

The Geordie duo also discussed their new game show with Lorraine, which will air across five hour-long episodes in the next few weeks.

Ant and Dec’s Limitless Win will feature “the world’s first limitless jackpot”, Dec said.

“As long as our players can stay in the game, they can keep climbing the ladder,” he said.

“Some very clever people came to us and said there’s never been a game show like it - what if we took away the top prize and just kept going.”

Dec said: “It’s ten years since we launched a show. It’s been a while and we weren’t really looking for a show, but last year we had no Britain’s Got Talent because of Covid.”

The pair explained that the answer to every question on the show is a number, so contestants can have a stab at the answer at each stage.

Ant and Dec revealed they played the game themselves as contestants while testing it out and managed to reach a staggering £1.2 million.

Ant said: “But we got a rush of blood to the head, kept answering too quickly and lost.”
