Ant and Dec hit with Newcastle final 'nerves' before Saturday Night Takeaway new series launch

Ant and Dec have admitted they've been struck down by nerves ahead of their busy weekend and it's got nothing to do with Saturday Night Takeaway and everything to do with a certain football match.

Weeks after the latest series of their other ITV show Limitless Win came to end, the Geordie presenters are back on primetime telly this weekend when Takeaway returns for another run, with stars like Alison Hammond lined up to appear. Ant and Dec have also teased a very 'special' End of the Show Show for the series launch, keeping light lipped on just what they had in store when they were interviewed on Friday's This Morning.

Ant and Dec had a rather hectic schedule on the eve of Takeaway's return, with them also heading to the Heart studios in London to chat to Breakfast hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston. And, it was during their live interview that the lads confirmed they'd be at Wembley on Sunday for the Carabao Cup final and were already feeling nervous for their beloved Newcastle United's big game against Manchester United.

When asked if he and Ant would be there to cheer on the Magpies, Dec replied: "We’ve got the show on Saturday and we’ve got the match on Sunday. I am more nervous about the football than I am about the show."

Ant explained: "You know what it’s been a very good distraction, just to take your mind off tomorrow night’s show. Just thinking about Sunday all the time….You know first time since, god 1999 we’re at Wembley, adding:: "That’s where we played in two FA Cup finals ’98 and ’99, lost them both."

Britain's Got Talent filming commitments meant that Ant and Dec couldn't be at St James ' Park at the start of the month to see Newcastle clinch a trip to Wembley by beating Southampton 2-1. As soon as the final whistle blew though, they took to Twitter to share their delight and were quickly flooded with cheeky requests from Magpies fans asking if they could get them a ticket for Wembley.
