Ant and Dec gave their support to Newcastle fans' protest group who have headed to London

Geordie duo Ant and Dec have backed the efforts of hundreds of Newcastle United fans who headed to London in protest over the Premier League's handling of the attempted Saudi-led buyout of the club.

The pair, who are massive Toon fans, took to social media to offer their supporter to the supporters who are staging a march in Parliament Square this afternoon.

It's being led by fan group Protest NUFC - who are calling for the arbitration between Mike Ashley and the Premier League to be held in a public forum.

Buses left Newcastle in the early hours of Friday morning to make it to the capital for 1 pm.

Ant and Dec's message, via their Twitter account, read: "All they’re asking for is transparency around the arbitration regarding Newcastle takeover. Why would the Premier League not want that too if fans really are ‘the lifeblood of the game’? What is there to hide?

"Good luck."

Arbitration is set to begin sometime this month with a separate legal battle on the grounds of anti-competition also set to be held in the coming weeks.

In recent weeks Amanda Staveley, of PCP, has been more prominent in the public eye and has given several interviews regarding her hopes for the revival of the deal.

She appeared on talkSPORT on Friday morning remaining confident that takeover will eventually go through.
