Ant and Dec film new TV show in helicopter as they fly around New York City

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have flown to extreme heights for their new TV series.

The Geordie pair jetted off to America to film scenes for the family history show Ant and Dec's DNA journey.

They were spotted taking an aerial tour of New York City in a helicopter while filming arriving at the city's Wall Street heliport for their excursion.

Both decked out in matching sunglasses Dec was seen taking a snap of the view before hopping in to the rotorcraft.

Ant and Dec took to the skies with their film crew before flying into the United Nations Headquarters.

They flashed their media passes to the security as they jumped to the front of the queue while Ant chowed down on a pretzel.

Ant McPartlin and Anne-Marie Corbett can't hide joy as they jet off on romantic break

It's unknown whose family history takes them to the Big Apple, but the show will see them delve into their own past to find out about their ancestors.

They are set to track down family members they didn't know existed after the show was initially shelved following Ant's driving ban and year-long break from TV.

TV bosses confirmed in February that a one-off special is going to air in the autumn.

ITV chief Kevin Lygo said: "They test their DNA then go and find relatives they didn’t know about.

"It’s not just ‘Ghengis Khan was your great great grandfather’, it’s this village here in Ireland contains relatives you don’t know about from just two generations back.”

Part of Ant and Dec's DNA Journey was filmed back in 2017, but TV bosses scrapped it after Ant, 43, was arrested on a drink-driving charge.

The show - similar to the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? - was reportedly ditched because it contained scenes of the pair drinking.

Their trip to America comes after Ant was spotted with his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett as they walked through a London airport to catch a flight.

Ant and Anne-Marie, who was sporting a new perm hairstyle - were pictured pushing their suitcases through a London airport as they departed on the US getaway.
