Ant and Dec excite fans with first look at SMTV reunion with Cat Deeley

Ant and Dec have caused great excitement by sharing a first look at the SMTV Live reunion.

The Geordielads caused near hysteria earlier this month with the news that the reunion show had already been filmed after they were spotted out and about in London with their former co-host Cat Deeley.

Seeing the trio back together conjured up serious nostalgia for the days of tuning into see them in actionfrom 9.25am every Saturday morning when they delighted millions of viewers of all ages with sketches like Wonky Donkey and CHUMS, before welcoming some of pop music's biggest stars on sister show CD:UK straight after.

So there was a massive reaction to their tweet on Tuesday night when Ant and Dec posted a picture of themselves with Cat back in the day next to one of them in filming for the reunion.

They simply captioned it "Excited?" and the answer from their many followers was a definite yes. One fan replied: "YES!" while another responded: "We needed this."

Other SMTV regulars from its hey day were quick to remember their favourite bits from the show, with Wonky Donkey popping up in many tweets.

Another fan wrote: "Jeez, I remember watching the Hilarious “Wonkey Donkey” and “C.H.U.M.S.” on SM:TV & also watching all the top global music acts perform on CD:UK too every Saturday morning while growing up as a kid!! Glad to see this #reunion happening!" and another excited SMTV lover tweeted: "I loved SMTV- The Corrs “we’re beautiful” “kat the dog” “chums” Bryan McFadden, Wonkey Donkey and the flower pot men...so funny."

A number of Ant and Dec's followers pushed them to reveal when the SMTV Live Reunion will be on TV, but they have yet to reveal that important detail.

Talking about the prospect of the show making a more permanent return, Dec said: "We should just do another one time. Just do it. But do it 9.25 on a Saturday morning for three hours, get bands on.

"I don’t know, let’s see. We’d love to do it but I don’t know if we can.”
