Ant and Dec earned £41,000 a week last year from presenting TV shows

Ant and Dec are reported to have earned over £2million in the first part of last year from hosting shows like Saturday Night Takeaway.

The Geordie duo celebrated 30 years in the business in 2020, having made their TV debuts on Byker Grove in 1990 and, while the entertainment industry was massively hampered by the coronavirus pandemic, the lads still managed to make some serious money.

The Sun reports that Ant and Dec raked £2.1million in the year ending June 30 2020, equating to £41,000 a week.

Their huge earnings were revealed as their two businesses, Mitre Holdings and Hurley Productions - named after Ant's dog - revealed their accounts.

The businesses oversee Ant and Dec's TV empire, including the making of Saturday Night Takeaway.

It is reported that the £2.1 million is only a proportion of the lads' total earnings as they have separate contracts for other ITV shows like Britain’s Got Talent.

A source told the paper: "With everything else factored in they are far and away the biggest names in British telly - but their viewing figures are still enormous so they’re worth every penny.”

After its much delayed semi finals and final last year due to lockdown restrictions, BGT has been completely shelved for this year.

Last year's Saturday Night Takeaway was well into its run when coronavirus hit, meaning only the last few shows of the series were affected.

Ant and Dec were firstly forced to film the live show without a studio audience, before presenting the final few episodes separately from their living rooms.

This week Ant was joined by best mate Dec and pals including Jonathan Wilkes for his 'booze-free' stag do, which saw a party of 15 head to an 18 hole golf course down south, before sitting down to a slap up meal in its club house.
