Ant and Dec confirm SMTV reunion has already been filmed and tease live episode

After much speculation over the past few months, Ant and Dec have not only confirmed a SMTV reunion, but revealed it's already been filmed!

While in the very child friendly 9.25am slot, SMTV Live, hosted by the Geordie duo and Birmingham-born presenter Cat Deeley quickly established itself as firm favourite amongst students and adults looking for an entertaining hangover cure after a Friday night on the tiles.

Including much loved segments likes Wonky Donkey and Challenge Ant, the show was a huge hit at the turn of the millennium and rumours were rife that a comeback was on the cards after Ant and Dec were spotted with Cat in London in July.

Well, the speculation proved to be bang on as, appearing as guests on Radio 2 on Thursday, Ant and Dec confirmed a reunion in already in the can.

Dec told host Zoe Ball: "There’s definitely an SM:TV reunion. We’ve filmed a show looking back at the story of SMTV and how it came about. That’s going to be on later in the year. We’ve recorded that already."

There's more excitement for SMTV fans as Dec also hinted that there could be an actual episode in the pipeline for the future, adding: "We said, ‘We should just do another one time. Just do it. But do it 9.25 on a Saturday morning for three hours, get bands on. I don’t know, let’s see. We’d love to do it but I don’t know if we can.”

Ant and Dec's interview on Radio 2 came on the day they released their new book Once Upon A Tyne, which sees them lift the lid on secrets of their three decades in showbiz, including the revelation that they once had a drunken scrap in a hotel lift and the time they nearly quit Britain's Got Talent in a row over editing.
