The biggest night in British television came on Sunday night as the 2023 BAFTA Television Awards aired on BBC One. Stars of the small screen were rewarded for their performances at the ceremony hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.
Ben Whishaw took the leading actor award for This Is Going To Hurt, while Kate Winslet came out on top for Channel 4's I Am Ruth. Claudia Winkleman fought back tears on stage as she scooped two awards for hit reality series, The Traitors, with her colleagues.
Competition at Royal Festival Hall was tough as ever, with previous BAFTA winners and other highly regarded performers and shows missing out on the top spots, including Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Cillian Murphy, Billie Piper and Taron Egerton. Beloved soaps, Coronation Street and Emmerdale also missed out to Casualty in this year's Soap and Continuing Drama category.
