Ant and Dec auction off a National Television Award each to raise cash for the NHS

Ant and Dec have sold two of their many National Television Awards to a fan to raise money for NHS workers.

The Geordie duo were among the celebrities who donated items to be auctioned off for Chris Evan's online auction of the charity Scrubs Glorious Scrubs, which helps volunteers sew non-surgical scrubs for NHS workers.

The pair said: "We've been lucky enough to win a few of these beauties over the years. [In fact, Ant and Dec have won 39 different NTA awards.]

"We love the NTA's and are very proud of our multiple wins but we really hope we can raise a shedload of money for Scrub Hubs by auctioning off our TV Presenter Award.

"As a double act, we are lucky to receive one each at the NTA's. Top two successful action winners will each receive one National Television Award per auction lot. Dig deep to help Scub Hubs!"

A huge number of other stars also got involved in the aution.

Chris Evans himself offered a huge number of items, while Will Smith offered up his golf clubs, and Taylor Swift sold a signed guitar.

Speaking on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, Chris explained that he'd asked famous friends to give away "something that you’d never in a million years dream of donating".

He added: "So many superstars have stepped up to the plate and done just that."

Many offered items that they described as their favourites, suggesting they'd only give away such treasured items for a good cause.
