Ant and Dec announce they're 'taking a bit of a break' and fans think they know why

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have announced they're "taking a bit of a break" in a new announcement.

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! presenters took to their joint social media account to reveal they'd be stepping out of the spotlight for a while.

Ant and Dec shared a selection of images of them together wearing Hawaiian shirts, straw hats and novelty pineapple and flamingo sunglasses.

They captioned the pictures: "Taking a bit of a break for a couple of weeks, but we'll see you very soon! Hope you manage to get away this summer and if you do, take us along with you?!

"Add us to your holiday snaps, tag us and use #holidaywithantanddec and we’ll share our favourites!"

While many ITV presenters take a break over the summer, including Susanna Reid, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and Lorraine Kelly, some fans have predicted the duo are off due to Ant getting married, reports Manchester Evening News.

"I have a feeling a certain someone is getting married in these 2 weeks and if you are ant I hope you have the most amazing day," one fan wrote.

Another said: "Have fun Guys on your well deserved break. I'm thinking wedding bells are involved too with Ant's wedding on the horizon. Existing times. Have a blast."

"Wedding time," a third simply added.

Ant is reportedly set to marry his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett after he proposed on Christmas Eve last year.

Their social media silence comes just after it was confirmed that Ant and Dec will be back in Wales later this year for I'm A Celebrity. You can read more about this here.

Ant and Dec will be back at Gwrych Castle in Abergele come the autumn with a new host of celebrity campmates.

ITV said the "continued uncertainty" around the coronavirus pandemic and international travel led to the decision, meaning the show has been kept away from Australia for a second year.
