Ant and Dec announce Saturday Night Takeaway return date after new show debut

Ant and Dec have revealed when Saturday Night Takeaway will return to our screens.

The Geordie double act appeared on Lorraine today to promote their new game show Ant and Dec's Limitless Win, which offers contestants an endless money ladder.

During their chat Lorraine Kelly asked the pair about their busy schedule and Ant McPartlin said Saturday Night Takeaway will return next month, once Limitless Win has finished its five-episode run.

Declan Donnelly also said viewers can expect Britain Got Talent to return after a year of absence, with auditions starting later this month.

Limitless Win is Ant and Dec’s first game show in a decade and will feature “the world’s first limitless jackpot”, Dec said.

Ant and Dec said they played the game themselves as contestants during a trial run and managed to reach a staggering £1.2 million.

Ant said: “But we got a rush of blood to the head, kept answering too quickly and lost.”

“As long as our players can stay in the game, they can keep climbing the ladder,” Dec said. “Some very clever people came to us and said there’s never been a game show like it - what if we took away the top prize and just kept going.”

Dec continued: “It’s ten years since we launched a show. It’s been a while and we weren’t really looking for a show, but last year we had no Britain’s Got Talent because of Covid.”

The pair explained that the answer to every question on the show is a number, so contestants can have a stab at each stage, regardless of whether they know the correct answer or not.

Lorraine also asked the pair whether I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will return to Australia this year.

Ant said they “hope” to return Down Under, but acknowledged that they said that last year and it wasn't to be.

He explained: “We’d all like to go back. It's proper home.”

Dec weighed in, saying it was “a bit too drizzly” in Wales last year.

“And we never get called off air with a storm in Australia," Ant added.

ITV bosses were forced to cancel part of the I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here run when Storm Arwen hit the set.

The presenters had to pre-record their links after 80mph winds battered the castle in Wales.

Dec told Lorraine: “It wasn’t quite the same, but we had a great time in North Wales.

“They made us feel so welcome. I’m a Celebrity’s spiritual home is Australia.”

Lorraine reassured the pair, saying: “It was still a cracker, but it would be lovely to see you in Australia, so you can top up your tan.”

Dec replied: “We can torment them a bit more in Australia as well.”
