Another week, another street record sale

Another week, another street record continues to be the story in the Newcastle real estate market.

The Newcastle Herald reported this month that Hunter property prices had powered ahead in February. CoreLogic figures showed the median sale price for a house in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie increased by another 2.4 per cent last month and 5.5 per cent since the start of December.

There have been many new street records established since the start of 2021 and another came with the $1.45 million exchange of a McDonald Jones home which was built in 2012 at 12 Baroonba Street in Whitebridge.

Cveta Kolarovski, of Cveta Property, marketed the four-bedroom house on a block around 740 square metres in size.

According to Australian Property Monitors data, the previous highest result for Baroonba Street was when a six-bedroom home on 1680 square metres of land at No.47 sold in July of last year for $1.22 million.

A four-bedroom home that was on the market for the first time in 20 years at 398 Sandgate Road in Shortland has sold for $690,150. Belle Property Lake Macquarie's Sam Taylor marketed the property with a guide of $595,000 to $650,000.

The home was set on a block of 673 square metres.
