The Houston Chronicle is the latest US newspaper to announce job cuts. It plans to make 5% of its workforce redundant after a five-year ecline in advertising. The paper is owned by the Hearst Corporation and ranks 13th in the United States in terms of readership. Another of its Texas newspapers, the San Antonio Express-News, is also to cut 40 to 50 jobs.
